New daily monitoring and takedown service targets fraudulent websites, typosquatting and search-result impersonation, with the agency reporting a 98% removal rate on filed complaints.

ICODA, a crypto marketing agency serving Web3 and cryptocurrency businesses, has launched a dedicated brand protection service to identify and remove websites impersonating legitimate crypto brands. The offering combines daily search monitoring, evidence collection and removal requests to help exchanges, decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms and Web3 projects protect their online presence.

Fraudulent websites can divert traffic from legitimate businesses by copying their branding, website interfaces and promotional messaging. Users searching for terms such as a brand’s login page, bonus offers or mobile application may encounter cloned domains that imitate the official service, potentially exposing them to scams and financial losses.

ICODA says its brand protection service monitors Google and Bing for impersonation assets, assembles supporting evidence and submits removal requests. The agency reports a 98% removal rate for filed complaints, with its detection-to-filing process completed within 24 hours.

Rising Threat of Crypto Brand Impersonation

Crypto and Web3 businesses face particular exposure to impersonation because fraudulent operators can exploit the reputation and audience of established brands without building credibility themselves.

According to ICODA, advances in AI tools have made it easier for malicious actors to reproduce website interfaces, site functionality, promotional offers and marketing copy. Fraudulent operators can then target similar geographic markets and audiences as the legitimate businesses they imitate.

The impact can extend beyond diverted traffic and deposits. When users experience fraud on cloned websites, resulting complaints may appear on search results, review platforms and online forums under names similar to those of the legitimate companies. This can damage brand trust and complicate customer acquisition.

Four-Stage Brand Protection Process

ICODA’s service follows a four-stage daily process designed to identify suspicious websites, verify potential impersonation and pursue removal through search platforms.

  • Capture: The agency monitors search results for brand names, common misspellings and transactional search terms, including “login,” “bonus,” “app,” “apk” and “withdraw.” Monitoring extends to the top 100 search positions in target countries across desktop and mobile environments.
  • Click: A browser operating from a local IP address visits flagged pages, activates calls to action and follows redirects to identify the final destination domain.
  • Verify: The team compares Googlebot behavior with live-browser rendering and cross-checks findings against WHOIS records, DNS information and TLS certificate data. Cases with insufficient evidence are marked unverified rather than treated as confirmed impersonation.
  • File: The agency submits removal requests to Google and Bing with supporting evidence. Legal notices are also logged in the Lumen Database to maintain an auditable record.

Prioritizing Search Removals and Evidence

The service emphasizes search-platform removal requests as an initial response to impersonation, rather than relying exclusively on legal proceedings that may take longer to resolve.

By documenting suspicious behavior and collecting technical evidence before filing complaints, ICODA aims to improve the quality of its submissions and reduce the risk of making unsupported accusations against legitimate websites.

The agency says this approach enables it to move quickly when fraudulent pages appear in search results while retaining legal escalation as a complementary option.

Protecting Trust Across Web3

Founded as a crypto marketing agency, ICODA reports more than 17 years of marketing experience and a client base of over 650 businesses across crypto and Web3.

The launch expands its services beyond marketing and audience acquisition into online brand protection. For cryptocurrency businesses operating in a competitive and fraud-prone environment, the service is intended to help preserve the integrity of branded search results, protect users from deceptive websites and reduce the reputational impact of impersonation.

ICODA’s reported removal results and turnaround times are based on the agency’s own claims; outcomes may vary depending on the platform, evidence available and circumstances of each case.
