Certification establishes an independently audited AI management framework designed to support enterprise risk management, data privacy and regulatory readiness
Airship, a mobile-first customer experience company, has achieved ISO 42001 certification, an international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS). Following an independent audit conducted by A-LIGN, the certification recognizes Airship’s AI governance framework and is intended to help enterprise customers adopt AI-powered customer experiences with greater confidence.
The company said it is among the first in the customer experience industry to achieve the certification across its platform. The standard provides a framework for managing AI-related risks through documented processes, oversight and continual improvement.
Addressing Enterprise AI Governance Challenges
Enterprise product and marketing teams face growing pressure to introduce AI into customer experiences while managing concerns around data privacy, inaccurate outputs and regulatory compliance. These risks can slow adoption, particularly in organizations operating across multiple markets.
Airship said its certification confirms that its AI capabilities are governed through a documented and tested management system designed to support responsible AI development and operation.
Research cited by Forrester highlights consumer expectations around responsible AI. According to the research quoted by Airship, 90% of surveyed European consumers said responsible AI use by companies was important to them. The same proportion identified data privacy and security as important signals of responsible AI practices.
“Enterprise brands shouldn’t have to choose between AI innovation and risk management,” said Brett Caine, CEO of Airship. He said the certification reflects the company’s commitment to responsible AI and gives enterprise teams a governance framework for developing and operating AI capabilities.
Key Implications for Enterprise Customers
Airship identified several areas where its ISO 42001 certification and existing product safeguards are intended to support enterprise adoption:
- Regulatory readiness: Provides a structured AI governance foundation to support organizations as AI regulations evolve, including requirements associated with the EU AI Act.
- Data privacy: Airship states that personal and end-user data are not used to train or fine-tune AI models without customer permission.
- Procurement efficiency: Provides independent evidence of AI governance practices that may help customers assess vendor risk during procurement.
- Brand protection: Combines content and compliance controls with AI capabilities designed to support relevant, on-brand content generation.
- Human oversight and transparency: Emphasizes human involvement, transparency and responsible AI use as part of the company’s governance approach.
The certification provides a management framework for AI governance; it does not, by itself, establish compliance with every applicable AI regulation. Organizations must still assess their own obligations based on how they deploy AI systems and the markets in which they operate.
Supporting Responsible AI Adoption
Airship said the certification forms part of its broader commitment to responsible AI, transparent governance and enterprise data protection.
