AI-referred traffic now reaches 85% of industrial brands analyzed by BlueTuskr, with 76% generating revenue from the channel

AI assistants are becoming an increasingly important source of website traffic and revenue for industrial businesses, challenging the long-held assumption that industrial buyers are slower to adopt new digital purchasing and research channels.

New data from BlueTuskr, a digital marketing agency focused on industrial businesses, shows that AI-referred traffic now appears across 85% of the industrial brands in its portfolio. Among those businesses, 76% have generated revenue directly from AI-referred visitors.

The agency said AI-driven traffic has more than tripled year over year across the accounts it analyzed, following a period when such traffic was barely visible in website analytics.

AI Traffic Moves Into the Mainstream

BlueTuskr said one high-seven-figure industrial brand has seen AI become one of its top 10 traffic sources. The business has grown from receiving hundreds of AI-referred sessions per month a year ago to tens of thousands today.

The trend became easier to measure after Google Analytics began classifying traffic from AI assistants as a distinct category in May 2026.

However, BlueTuskr believes the actual volume of AI-driven traffic is likely higher because some AI-generated visits arrive without identifiable referral information and therefore are not captured in the category.

Industrial Buyers Turn to AI for Research

The findings point to changes in how technical and industrial buyers research suppliers and products.

Rather than relying exclusively on traditional search engines, buyers are increasingly using AI assistants to evaluate suppliers, compare options, and find information during the purchasing process.

Despite this shift, BlueTuskr said many industrial companies have made limited efforts to ensure their products, services, and expertise are accurately represented in AI-generated answers.

Andrew Maffettone, Founder and CEO of BlueTuskr, said the agency’s client data shows that AI has quickly evolved from an almost invisible traffic source into a measurable channel capable of generating revenue.

Early Opportunity for Industrial Marketers

The agency believes the early stage of AI-driven discovery presents an opportunity for industrial companies to establish visibility before the channel becomes more competitive.

Companies that structure their digital content and product information to be easily understood and surfaced by AI systems could gain an advantage as more buyers use AI assistants during supplier research.

Maffettone is expected to present BlueTuskr’s findings at STAFDA’s 50th Annual Convention, highlighting the growing role of AI in industrial marketing and buyer behavior.
