New product links agent conversations with customer behavior and business metrics as Mixpanel expands experimentation, analytics and AI governance capabilities

Product intelligence company Mixpanel has introduced Agent Intelligence, a new product designed to help teams evaluate AI agents based on their impact on customer behavior and business outcomes, rather than activity metrics alone.

The product connects agent conversations with the broader customer journey, allowing teams to examine what an agent did, how customers responded and whether interactions contributed to desired outcomes.

The launch comes as organizations increasingly embed AI agents into digital products while facing challenges in measuring their effectiveness and return on investment.

Connecting Agent Activity With Customer Journeys

Agent Intelligence links agent interactions to the same user identities and events that teams already track in Mixpanel.

This allows agent conversations to appear alongside customer activity in tools such as funnels, replays, cohorts and retention reports. Teams can therefore evaluate whether an agent interaction helped customers complete a task, move through a funnel or remain engaged with a product.

“There’s no shortage of tools that will show you what your AI agent did. There are far fewer that can tell you what that means for your customers and your business,” said Anant Gupta, Chief Technology Officer at Mixpanel.

The approach is intended to help product teams answer questions around whether agents improve customer experiences, how different user groups respond to them and whether changes such as switching AI models produce measurable improvements.

Examining Complete Agent Conversations

Agent Intelligence also provides a consolidated view of individual agent interactions.

Cost, latency and error metrics are available without requiring teams to build dashboards first. When an interaction produces an unexpected result, teams can review the complete conversation, including individual exchanges, tool calls and their results.

Mixpanel said this removes the need to reconstruct conversations manually from separate logs and observability data.

Testing Models, Prompts and Agent Configurations

The platform connects agent analysis with experimentation and feature-flagging capabilities, allowing teams to compare changes to prompts, models and tool configurations against customer and business metrics.

Mixpanel’s existing AI capabilities can also support the analysis process. Mixpanel Agent assists with exploratory analysis, while AI-powered root-cause analysis can investigate changes in performance or costs. Proactive KPI monitoring is designed to identify emerging issues and opportunities for further testing.

The combination creates a feedback loop in which teams can identify problems, determine potential causes and test changes against measurable outcomes.

Sprout Social Uses Agent Intelligence

Sprout Social is among the organizations using Agent Intelligence to evaluate its AI-powered product experiences.

“We’ve built several agents at Sprout, including Listening and Insights. But knowing an agent responded doesn’t tell us whether the customer achieved their goal, and that’s what matters most to us,” said Blake Kurinsky, Senior Director of Product Management at Sprout Social.

Kurinsky said the company previously tracked individual agent interactions as separate custom events. Agent Intelligence provides a consolidated view of the conversation alongside subsequent customer behavior.

Broader AI and Experimentation Updates

Mixpanel is also introducing additional platform updates alongside Agent Intelligence.

The latest release includes an expanded Mixpanel Agent designed to handle more analytical work, as well as no-code experimentation intended to help teams test product changes without depending on engineering resources.

The company is also expanding its Context Engine to provide answers grounded in a team’s existing work and introducing AI-powered data governance to help maintain the quality and reliability of data used by AI systems.

Agent Intelligence is currently available in early access, adding another layer to Mixpanel’s product analytics capabilities as companies increasingly evaluate AI features based on measurable customer and business impact.
